True wine lovers will tell you that Niagara isn’t only a great place to taste wine – particularly during the 2012 Icewine Festival, celebrated in both Jordan and Niagara-on-the-Lake –but also one of the world’s best spots to learn the art of creating it.
Niagara College’s Teaching Winery, located in Niagara-on-the-Lake, is Canada’s first commercial teaching winery. A $3.6 million facility, it is nestled in its own vineyard and is also home to the Wine Visitor and Education Centre. Referred to as “a living laboratory for Niagara College’s wine, culinary and tourism students”, the Wine Visitor and Education Centre showcases Niagara wines and educates visitors about the complex business of wine-making – explaining every step from planting to selling the delectable final product in the on-site retail store.
Drop by for a visit, enjoy some of Canada’s finest wines and learn a little about one of the most important industries in Niagara!
