Downtown St. Catharines has more treasures than could be listed, with experiences to be had at every storefront and landmark. Back for another season is one of those entertainment options that has drawn crowds to Montebello Park on Tuesday evenings for years. Music in the Park is hosted by the City of St. Catharines and showcases numerous local artists throughout the summer months.
You may have cruised by the park by chance on a Tuesday to see the lawn filled with people of all ages and wondered what was gathering them. This series is a local favourite and will showcase the acts listed below each Tuesday evening beginning at 7pm. These performances are weather permitting, and we encourage you to live up the local flavour for the event with a picnic blanket, maybe some lawn chairs and a basket of fresh Niagara produce to round out your evening.
While the acts we have listed will surely keep the crowds shimmying on the lawn, there is an exciting event that is happening on July 19th as a facet of this event series. Driftwood Theatre will be rolling into town on their Bard’s Bus Tour to perform The Odyssey. This performance will relive the story of the Trojan War, acting out the story of Queen Penelope who when her husband disappears, struggles to maintain her kingdom and the safety of her people. She and her son are facing increasingly hostile suitors when a stranger arrives with stories of her missing husband, keeping hope alive.
This performance has a pay-what-you-can admission with a suggestion of $15 per person. The show starts at 7:30pm and is presented by the Downtown Performing Arts Centre.
