The Prince of the Air, Jay Cochrane, has passed away at age 69 after his battle with pancreatic cancer.
Jay was born in Sudbury, Canada and was well-known all over the world for his incredible wirewalking feats. He held 7 world records, with his latest being “Longest cumulative distance on a highwire over 100 meters high” that he claimed last year in Niagara Falls. He also set the “Longest and highest combined skywalk” in 1995 when he walked 2,098 feet at a height of 1,340 feet across the Yangtze River. There was a crowd of 200,000 people and this helped make him a legend.
Jay has asked that any gifts in his honor be sent to The Tender Wishes Foundation in Niagara, which helps ease the lives of terminally ill children and the Boys and Girls Club of Niagara Falls.
“Everyone who knew him was not only absolutely awed by his accomplishments but deeply honored to have been his friend.” – Shane Peacock
