The Pelham Summerfest in downtown Fonthill was definitely an exciting event! The main street was closed to traffic from noon until midnight and was full of curious, enthusiastic visitors in a greater than expected turnout. One of the vendors visitors were excited to see was the Gelato Village. The new store at 1417-1419 Pelham Street wasn’t quite ready for the public, but Rocco Spano made sure to have a tent in place to serve his new customers as they patiently waited for a delicious way to beat the heat.
We entered Summerfest around 1 p.m. and were quickly enthralled by the musical talent ranging from the young Fonthill Music Academy band performances and the seasoned “Sandy Vine and the Midnights.” The live entertainment was a great way to keep visitors’ spirits high even when the temperature managed to hit a whopping 33°C!
There was also a wide variety of activities for the children such as rock climbing, face painting and a bouncy gym. While exploring the area, we were able to spot Mickey Mouse, Cinderella and even Pirates of the Caribbean’s Jack Sparrow! The food selection and vendors at Summerfest had something for everyone … Whether it was chocolate and sweets or BBQ’s and hot beef sandwiches, including the local restaurants: Zest, Cafe on Main and Mossimo’s serving the public in their traditional friendly manner!
The event was incredibly organized and we were proud to see what Niagara is able to offer its residents and visitors alike. We had an amazing time and hopefully with the great turnout, Pelham will consider making this a recurring event through this summer and the next. Pelham Summerfest … Naturally in Niagara!
