Lovers of great food were on hand in downtown Welland this past weekend to celebrate the 18th annual Niagara Food Festival – the Peninsula’s Tastiest Party.
For the first time, two honorary chair people presided over the weekend of events – local culinary stars, cookbook authors and stars of Food TV, Chefs Anna and Michael Olson. “Niagara is a top culinary destination, and we’re thrilled to continue our association with the Niagara Food Festival – a premier showcase for all that Niagara’s food producers and restaurateurs have to offer,” said Michael.
The three-day festival featured more than 25 food vendors from Niagara as well as the Experience Niagara Market, where local food producers were able to show off their very best. Contests included the sizzling firefighters chili cook-off, the best apple pie challenge and the brand new Cupcake Wars.
From cooking tips to recipe demonstrations, the Niagara Food Festival’s Mobile Culinary Theatre (MCT) as well as the community and main stages kept the hungry crowds satisfied with a continuous lineup of great local talent. Naturally in Niagara® was on hand to capture all the delicious fun!
