Spending a little time on the open waters is a great way to spend a warm, sunny summer day. Though. if you are someone who doesn’t quite have their sea legs, the Canal Days waterfront can be just as exciting.
On the north shore of Fort Erie, Port Colborne hosts an incredible four day event centred around their historic marine heritage. Some of this includes white sand beaches, culinary favourites, Sugarloaf Marina, fishing, golfing, recreation and shopping districts along the Welland Canal.
Tall Ships
One of the most exciting attractions has to be the yearly special guests, Tall Ships. The port will see a Coast Guard Vessel, a working fireboat, Tall Ship Empire Sandy and Schooner Liana’s Ransom and many other ships. The best part is that you can even take a walk on board. Children can walk on the bridge, get a firm grip of the Captain’s wheel, and if they’ve been a little naughty, maybe even walk the plank!
