We are reporting this event to you a little earlier than usual, and for good reason. The Niagara Falls International Marathon isn’t the kind of event you decide to attend on a whim. Experienced runners need to start their preparation for the big event early, while beginner and novice runners can practice their distance and endurance with some of the smaller events.
This race debuted in 1974 and was originally titled the Skylon Marathon. An exciting weekend for Niagara, this race will draw out-of-town crowds as it is a Boston Marathon Qualifier. The events take place from October 25th to October 27th along the Niagara Parkway where runners will enjoy the cool temperatures of the shores and the incredible scenery – inspiration for their impressive athletic feat.
What is particularly cool about this marathon is that it is the only race of its kind in the world. You start your run in the United States and finish in Canada… crazy, right?! As a Niagaran I have nightmarish thoughts of the wait at the border! Rest assured, your credentials will be checked long before you arrive at the border so your time won’t be inhibited by the unique journey. In fact, this particular racetrack is considered so fast and flat, it’s an excellent place to push for a personal best.
We have listed below your distance options, but visit the website for all of your marathon information!
