Be on hand at Brock on Tuesday, November 27, as the Department of Music’s University Wind Ensemble presents “Dizzy Fingers: an evening of musical fireworks from Shostakovich to Hindemith.” The evening will feature a special debut performance by the Brockbusters, Brock University’s Jazz Band. Both ensembles perform under the baton of conductor Zoltan Kalman.
The Wind Ensemble is a powerful conglomeration of talent drawn from the Brock community, local high schools, Niagara and Southern Ontario’s professional music world including Patrick Beard from the Niagara Symphony, and Dave Pearson and Mary-Anne Pearson from Hamilton’s Symphony on the Bay. Some of the 60 musicians are from Niagara Region high schools: Kendall Gallagher and Kaidi Bishop from E.L. Crossley Secondary School, Fonthill; Brandan Roberts from Laura Secord Secondary School, St. Catharines; and Breton Lalama from Notre Dame College School, Welland.
You can enjoy the sounds of both the Brock University Wind Ensemble and Jazz Band, at 7 p.m. in the Sean O’Sullivan Theatre. Tickets are $5, and can be purchased at the Centre for the Arts Box Office, or at the door.
