Tomatoes are one of the most beautiful fruits from our local gardens right now. Lush and ripe, they’re so different from the ones you’ll find at the grocery store. There’s something better about fresh from the vine, and tomatoes are the perfect example of why we participate in the labourious task of cultivating that veggie garden. Holy yum!
Tomatoes also have a best friend in one of the most famous wines produced from Niagara vines. Riesling! The two actually have a lot in common. They are both bright with fruitful notes aplenty. Riesling has mouthwatering acidity, as does the mighty tomato! Really, they are ideal companions.
The best part about these companions, is that they are the superstars of an easy side dish – one that over-delivers on flavour.
Caprese Salad
Fresh mozzarella cheese
Tomatoes from the garden (or one of our local farmers!)
Fresh basil leaves
