When it comes to life, a person’s health is definitely the most important aspect. Without it, everything else becomes harder, if not impossible, and yet it is often the one part that we usually take for granted.
St. John Ambulance has been operating in Canada for over 130 years, ever since their Quebec City branch began teaching first aid training courses in 1883. Over the next 10 years, St. John grew to a national organization and would have 12 branches across Canada. Their mission was “to enable Canadians to improve their health, safety and quality of life by providing training and community service”. This has allowed St. John Ambulance to grow into an organization with over 4000 volunteers contributing half a million hours of community service and being able to train 140,000 Ontarians annually.
St. John Ambulance has a strong track record operating in Niagara Falls for the last 77 years. They offer unique and innovative programs such as medical first response, disaster response, health and safety related youth programs, therapy dog services, Chair-A-Van transportation, car seat safety and search and rescue.
Now is the opportunity to give back to a truly incredible organization. Next week, July 1st Canada Day, St. John Ambulance will be hosting their 3rd Annual Run for St. John Ambulance. It will be a 5KM Run or Walk and will help generate funds for all of their community programs. It will be a family friendly event which will feature door prizes, fresh fruit and, medals for the top runners. The run is open to everyone and will have categories ranging from under 13 to over 70.
The summer weather is starting to take a turn for the better and this event will be a wonderful way to show off your Canadian spirit!
