Commisso’s Fresh Foods – Your Source for Healthy Living

By on 0

Living healthy means eating healthy – but the challenge can be finding the right sources, for everything from fresh local and organic produce, to drug-free meats and poultry to a full selection of vitamins.

The good news is, for those who live in or visit Niagara, you don’t have to look any farther than Commisso’s Fresh Foods at 6161 Thorold Stone Rd. in Niagara Falls.  Everything is right there.

Says Rocky Commisso, who with his three brothers and their partner Miro Urge, opened the innovative grocery store last year, “We believe in providing our customers with the best.”

And they do.

Health-conscious shoppers are thrilled to discover that Commisso’s Fresh Foods offers a great selection of locally grown fruits and vegetables. They also have organic and drug-free chicken in stock at all times and takes orders for organic and drug-free beef and pork to ensure up-to-the-minute freshness. Their deli meat selection includes low sodium, low fat, gluten free and locally cured nitrite free prosciutto.

Also in stock are products popular with those in the fitness world, such as Greek yogurt (high in probiotics and ‘good fats’), chia seeds (recognized as an outstanding source of fiber), coconut oil, coconut water (a leading rehydration product not found in many places in Niagara), hemp seeds oils and protein powders (which provide complete protein as well as all ten amino acids to aid in post workout recovery.)

“We’re also very proud of our Wellness Department,” says Rocky. The welcoming area of the store houses a full range of vitamins and supplements, from fish oils to probiotics, many from Canadian companies. “We often have health experts visit the store to meet with our customers and offer advice.”

Of equal interest are the regular, health-related seminars on topics that have ranged from healthy weight loss and maintenance to eye health.

“We offer them in our bistro,” says Rocky. “It’s a comfortable spot, where people can relax and enjoy learning about good health.”

Give yourself a little extra time when you come to do your shopping and stop by for a cup of tea or some fresh brewed coffee – you’ll find that getting the groceries is far more enjoyable when you’re feeling relaxed and refreshed.
