The St. Catharines Boxing Club and the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada have come together to put on the Pearl Gloves Charity Boxing Gala on November 29th. Sponsored by The St. Catharines Standard, Pearl Gloves will see St. Catharines MP Rick Dykstra go toe to toe against CEO of the Chamber of Commerce Walter Sendzik.
Two years ago, the St. Catharines Boxing Club and the residents of St. Catharines came together to support Keith Murphy, a long time coach at club, who has MS. This year, they are hoping to once again raise awareness for MS and also help to support the MS Society with this exciting Slug Fest!
For Sendzik, MS hits close to home. For almost 20 years, his mother has been battling against MS and he has seen first hand how it affects a person’s body and mind. “We are hoping people pack the place to show their support,” Sendzik said.
The Pearl Gloves will be hosted at the Merritton Community Centre with tickets costing $10 in advance and $15 at the door. The first fight of the night will start at 7 pm.
