Niagara College Kicks Off the New School Year with Rock Band “The Reason” and special guests: Gentlemen Husbands

By on 0

Niagara College has always been one of the top schools for student satisfaction and this year’s 4500 new first year students, bringing the total to 9000, proves it!

The school term kicked off this week on September 6. There were orientation activities, campus tours, free lunches and explosive concerts. One of the biggest additions to Niagara College is the brand new $40 million Applied Health Institute. It is a state of the art facility for the applied health programs. It simulates a real hospital setting and opens up a wide range of learning opportunities for real world situations. It opens for the first time this week and is part of the Niagara College $90 million revovation.

There are a few new additions to the program list which include Game Development, Cullinary Innovation and Food technology and Renewable Energies Technician. These were introduced in reflection of the major growing sectors in the Niagara Region.

“Niagara College’s continued strong growth is a great reflection of the excellent work done by the entire college team,” said Dr. Steve Hudson, Niagara College’s acting president. “Their commitment to student success is second to none, demonstrated each year as more and more students pick Niagara College as their post-secondary school of choice.”

To kick off this new term, Niagara College set up several incredible concerts to get the students pumped for the new year. One of the bands to grace the NC stage was none other than “The Reason”. They are a rock band that has been playing since 2003, but the awesome part is that they originated in Hamilton, Ontario. The band consists of Adam White (Vocals), James Nelan (Guitar), Mike Caputo (Guitar), Ronson Armstrong (Bass), and Steve Kiely (Drums).

The Reason is currently managed by SRO/Anthem, who also deal with big time players such as “Rush” and “Thornley”. They recently released “FOOLS” on August 24, 2010 and are on their cross-Canada tour. Make sure to catch the boys at the 2011 EDGE Casby Awards on September 22 where they are nominated for “Favourite New Album”! Check out some of their videos here.

Buy their newest CD now available on iTunes.

Opening for The Reason was Gentlemen Husbands, who fuse together Rock and Country. The band originates from Cobourg, Ontario and has played with “Attack in Black”, “Saint Alvia” and “The Arkells”. Check out Gentlemen Husbands here.
