Canada’s political funny-man, Rick Mercer, made a stop at the Canadian Food and Wine Institute recently to film an upcoming episode of his CBC show, “The Mercer Report.” In true Mercer fashion, he made his visit educational but was at times downright comical as he did his best to attend beer and wine school at the Niagara on the Lake campus.
In attending the NC Teaching Brewery, Mercer sported the signature white rubber boots of Brewmaster Jon Downing as he listened attentively to the fundamentals of the program. A visit to the NC Teaching Winery saw Mercer learning the ropes in the winemaking facility and trying his hand and vineyard tending. How did he do? You can watch the Mercer Report next week to see the episode and get an insider’s glimpse into what happens on Canada’s most innovative campus!
Watch on Tuesday March 19th at 8:00pm EST on CBC Television.
Unfamiliar with Rick Mercer? This might be just the time to brush up on your Canadian media icons! Mercer hosts the Mercer Report on CBC, a program dedicated to breaking down Canadian political happenings to enable viewers to better digest what’s happening in their nation. Beyond his satirical approach to politics, Mercer takes on serious issues in his “Rant”, a walk through an alley-way in Toronto where he gets real and discusses his opinions on important national topics.
Mercer also takes time in his show to visit a location in Canada, where he walks in the shoes of another person for a day, experiencing life from his/her viewpoint. Previous shoots in Niagara have included the Tunnel Project in Niagara Falls.
